1.
Open the box and remove the Kief Thief from its packaging. Remove the stainless steel housing cover from the Kief Thief.
2.
Locate the black plastic block that is used to hold the bearing shaft in place for shipping. Carefully use a razor knife to cut the zip ties that hold the bearing block in place and remove the block.
3.
Put on a pair of rubber gloves before attempting to lift the sifter drum from the chassis. The oils from your hands can clog and contaminate the screen.
4.
You can now carefully lift up and slide the sifter drum free of the square drive adapter connected to the motor and remove the sifter drum from the chassis.
5.
Place the sifter drum on a clean surface so that it is sitting upright with the access plate facing upwards. Never set the drum on its side or allow anything to touch the mesh as it can be easily damaged.
6.
You can now use an alcohol solution in combination with a lint free towel or wipe to clean the chassis collection area and cover. This should be done to remove any dust, dirt or contaminates prior to using the Kief Thief.
7.
Locate and remove the 4 wing nuts that hold the access cover plate in place. Once the cover plate is removed and now that the chassis and collection surfaces have been properly cleaned the sifter drum is ready to be filled. We recommend using a large BPA free turkey bag to store, fill and remove material in and out of the sifter drum.
8.
Once you have added your desired amount of dry material into the drum, make sure the access plate surface is wiped clean so that the access plate cover can make a good seal. Re install the access plate cover with guide bearing facing outward and firmly tighten the 4 wing nuts.
9.
Carefully re install the sifter drum into the chassis by using one hand to hold on to the bearing shaft while the other hand supports the bottom of the side plate. Make sure that the square drive shaft slides into the side plate and that the bearing rests firmly in its support block. Never lift the drum by touching the screen.
10.
Once the sifter drum is installed you can now install the inspection cover over the sifter drum. After the cover is in place you can locate the motor rocker switch and place it in the OFF position.
11.
Locate the power cord and plug it into a properly installed and grounded 120 volt outlet that has a functioning 10 AMP breaker.
12.
Locate the power switch on the Kief Thief motor cover and place into the ON position. The sifter drum will now begin turning and sifting the material. The majority of the sifted material will start collecting directly under the side of the drum that is turning upward.
13.
The amount of time that it will take to thoroughly sift and extract will vary depending on the total amount of product being sifted as well as the quality and condition of material. In general the drier and finer the material is ground prior to running through the Kief Thief, the higher the yield. We recommend running the machine for a minimum of 30 minutes and as long as 48 hours on very large runs for maximum yield. Experiment for yourself to see what works best for you.
